Overheard at work
She: That's why I'm still single. I want a man who can bend me over backwards and say, "Gimme some sugar, baby."
He: I think you should put that line in a personal ad: "Seeking Sam Raimi fan who will..."
I love my job.
Craziness abounds
"Roller coaster" doesn't even begin to describe my life right now. The new house is finished, and in all likelihood we'll be closing this Wednesday, July 7th (my birthday, incidentally). We're planning to move on that Saturday, the 10th.
It'll be crazy for the first week or so--we won't have air conditioning at first, or probably cable, or a washer and dryer, or a driveway, or a sidewalk, or sod... basically, we'll have a house, and all our stuff in it. It'll be exciting though too. I can't wait to actually live in this place! That's the good, if stressful, stuff.
Then there's the bad stuff. (And you folks who read my locked entries on Livejournal already know this.) My mom was diagnosed with lung cancer this past Monday. That's all we know for right now. She has her first appointment with an oncologist on July 9th--yes, the day before we move, I said things were crazy. We're both being cautiously optimistic. All of the signs we can see suggest that they caught this early enough that treatment should do wonders. And if nothing else, she's quit smoking as of yesterday, and I think this time for good--the motivation's definitely there.
So, between packing and work and doctor's appointments, I imagine I'll be scarce, both online and in RL, until after the 10th--but you never know with me. The internet makes a great procrastination device. ;)
