27. The Nerd Who Loved Me, Vicki Thompson

So last Friday, the romance buyer for Borders came up to me and two of the other admins and said, "You have to come over to my desk, I have a book you all have to read, it's hysterical!" Never one to pass on a free book, I went along--besides which, I'd heard about Thompson's first book, Nerd in Shining Armor, and was curious.

Yup, it's your basic romance novel, only the hero is a geekish accountant. It was a fun, fluffy sort of read, with an entertaining set of characters, including the hero's mother and her group of friends (all retired Vegas showgirls) who call themselves Temptresses in Temporary Seclusion, or TITS for short. (You try not to be twelve years old and keep from giggling when one of the characters announces, "C'mon, TITS, let's go!")

If you like the light-hearted, mildly explicit genre at all, you'll like it (look for it starting Tuesday, it hasn't been released yet). It got me through a nice relaxing weekend. Besides, I wholeheartedly approve of making nerds romantic heroes in books--they've been my romantic heroes for years.
