I'll be periodically posting bits
I'll be periodically posting bits of what I've written for the day. For now, the opening sentence, such as it is:
On the morning of Maura Kilpatrick's wedding to Joseph Flaherty, the last thing anyone expected was for the bride to return to her mother's house at dawn with twigs and leaves in her hair and terrified exhaustion written all over her face.
Posted by Lisa at November 1, 2001 12:56 AMHi Lisa. Great first line! I found out about your journal from Julie W's page. You are a brave soul to begin writing at the very start of the competition. Way to go.
Will your novel be in any sort of genre, or more "mainstream/literary"? I'm definitely hooked by the first line.
Also, I've added a link to your page on my website -- I hope that's okay: http://www.sff.net/people/michaeljasper/NaNoWriMo.htm
Keep it up!
Posted by: Mike Jasper at November 1, 2001 04:07 PMHi Mike! :) I'm very excited about this, in case you missed it. *grin* My novel is definitely in the fantasy genre, although there are some sci-fi-ish overtones. It's worth mentioning that Maura is not the main character, and in fact, I think she disappears completely after the first chapter, since she lived about three hundred years before the novel takes place. :)
